Standard Takumars
Optically diverse pre-set lenses of similar appearance with focal lengths either 58mm, or 55mm. In the period from 1957-1959 four of these lenses were manufactured and sold on the first two Asahi Pentax cameras (AP and S). The fifth is known only as an early prototype.
Pre-set lenses are operated using a pair of chromed rings located at the front of the barrel: one setting the desired aperture while the other opens the diaphragm for viewing the subject through the lens (temporarily over-riding the first set ring) until the shutter is fired.
All aperture rings possess only 8 or 9 available f stops. All are labelled with numerals, not dots. All standard Takumars share a common focus ring formula; F (10/12). All possess diaphragms composed of 10 blades.
Excludes Auto-Takumar (semi-automatic aperture control lever) and (automatic / manual switching lenses) Super-Takumars and later.
