INTRODUCTION
This new lens was introduced with the ASAHIFLEX 1A. The optical formula is 5/4; in a telephoto design as the name implies.
Takumars of this focal length turned out to be more popular than any other accessory lenses. Where its predecessor was soon decommissioned after 5 years in production, this lens led a succession of M42 screw mounted Takumars either borrowing its name, or, developing new versions of this focal length tradition.

The distance scales similar to those of the 1:3.5/100mm sister lens. Export versions marked " Feet " out-number the metric version by 10 to 1. Metric marking commenced later in the production period.
