INTRODUCTION

The standard lens  for the ASAHIFLEX IIA and IIB. or the TOWER 22,23 and 24.

This third version of the standard 1:3.5/ 50mm Takumar coated lens soon came into competition with the longer focal length 1:24 58mm Takumar. This gave customers a choice and allowed Asahi Optical Co. to  search for optimal focal lengths for a standard lens.
DESCRIPTION

The colours of the nameplate and the lettering on this version have been reversed making it easier to identify.

Distance scale units are in either "Meter" or "Feet". Copies of the former make up < 20% of the total. The latter copies were made principally for export to North America.
LENS PRODUCTION  (∑ lenses)
  ∑n = 270 Serial Numbers (SN) observed in 53 batches covering 12,192 SN min.< ∑ lenses < 19,152 SN max.
SN min. = accumulated total of serial numbers observed within 53 batches.
SN max. = accumulated total of serial numbers observed between adjacent batches of other lenses.
