INTRODUCTION
This lens was designed as a fully automatic Super Takumar (43770), refining and extending the reach of it's pioneering predecessor. Launched in 1969-1970 and named "Super Takumar-Zoom" in the first two batches (a name similar to it's predecessors) ; it was re-named "Super-Multi-Coated" for export. Thus becoming the first AOCo lens to carry this appellation.
It was not upgraded to cope with open-aperture metering for later cameras (ES, ESII and Spotmatic F) and the product number appears to have remained 43770 throughout production.
Imitation being the highest form of flattery; this design readily translated to later K mount in Pentax zooms.
