INTRODUCTION
Produced for the Asahi Pentax SL sold only on the Japanese domestic market. It lacks super-multi-coating but has open aperture viewing and is not usually found in other markets. It competed for Super-Takumar nameplates on the assembly line with the latter stages of 37101 production for export, consequentially many of the latter were supplied instead with the new Super-multi-coated nameplates and of course multi-coating. In this competition for the supply of parts every 37106 was labelled Super-Takumar.
Gerjan van Oosten (1999) lists it with Super-multi-coated TAKUMAR 1.8/55 (37104). Here it is listed by name with the last of the Super-Takumars. Later batches include a few or sometimes many copies with rubberised focus and aperture rings (SN 6304xxx - 6358xxx) as marked.
