 Collecting Serial Numbers from Screw mount Takumar lenses is a popular activity. Large collections have been donated to this website since it's inception by keen observers. Others progressively add missing serial numbers. This support accelerates and encourages the rate of acquisition for which I am most grateful.  

A donation of 17,000 SN, the largest ever received, is currently being merged prior to updating the website and Summary in February 2023. This deadline will now be Dec 2023, at least for the pre-Smc lenses before SN 4,600,000!! Hoping to have completed a website makeover in 2024 with graphics.

Asahi Takumar 1:4 f=300mm No. 275539 - I purchased this lens over a decade ago. The tall leather case has the slide cap closure stamped Japan. The lens appears to be Model I from Batches 6-9, since it has the dots for the half stops.

In all pother respects it is exactly as shown in your photos for the 10 blade version

Thank-you for posting this treasure trove of Takumar information. Very interesting. I have a model 37104 Super-Multicoated-Takumar 55mm f1.8 that I bought new directly from McQueen sales (Canadian distributor of Pentax) in the early '70s. The serial number is 5639913 which you show as belonging to model 37108.

in end of January 2023 an article (12 pages, 38 photos + 1 full page german advertise) about Pentax ES open aperture system (incl. aftermarket lenses and the 3 adapter systems) will be published in german collecting magazine PhotoDeal Nr. 118. Its the third article about M42, 1st was history of M42 back in late 1940ties and mostly all companies, who maufatured SLRs, 2nd was about the Praktica LLC open aperture system - minimum 5 articles will follow about open aperture-systems: Oly FTL, Mam SX, Zeiss Ikon SL706/VSL1, Pentacon super and Fujica ST

Sorry, i can´t share the article, because the rights are by owner of magazine.

Have just purchased an SMC Takumar 1:1.4/50mm.

The serial number falls just outside the listed range [7649974 to 7659455 (39/ 9481)] in the guide. My lens has the number 7659533.

Hello Again. I have an unusual (maybe) Super Takumar.
It is an 8 element 50mm f1.4 Super Takumar (yes I have made sure it has protruding rear element) but the serial number is 1733309. I purchased it along with a Model 231 early Spotmatic all working here in uk for £15. It does seem to be the highest serial number seen so far. Please contact me for any Photos. Regards. Mike.

I wanna contribute SN 1334611 which has all features of an 8 element Super-Takumar 50mm 1.4 as IR Mark on the right side of the (left) 4, A M, no Number on the Switch an protruding rear element. The 4´s are all closed, the F-Stop Numbers on the aperture ring seem to be the broader ones.

I have quite a collection - I'd like to share the numbers with you, but thought you would be particularly interested in a Takumar 58mm f2.4 I have. The rear element configuration varies from my other example, and appears to match the style of a 55mm f2.2 I have, so I think it is one of the manufacturing irregularities you mention. Serial number is 154830.

i have a early model II Super Takumar f1.4 50mm with the serial number being 2296340 and AOC product number 37800. So you might want to expand the serial number range for the 37800

Plus a regular Super Takumar 55mm f2.0 5261345
